WISE — Pro-Art presents Symphony of the Mountains’ holiday program, “By the Fireside,” on Thursday, Dec. 5 at J.W. Adams Combined School.

The 45-member symphony, led by conductor Cornelia Laemmli Orth, will join Lee and Wise county school choir and the University of Virginia’s College at Wise Concert Choir in an evening of seasonal classics across the centuries.

Pro-Art Executive Director Jan Zentmayer said this year is the first time since 2017 that Symphony of the Mountains has performed in the organization’s holiday season schedule.

“We love getting local students involved and providing an avenue for them to experience what it’s like to perform onstage with professional musicians,” said Zentmayer.

A special guest in a red suit is slated to make an appearance for those children who’d like to put in a word about their Christmas lists or behavior this year.

Symphony of the Mountains’ “By the Fireside” begins at 7 p.m. at the Wise County Performing Arts Center at J.W. Adams Combined School in Pound, Virginia. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and all students and children are free. Pro-Art season tickets will also be honored for this event. The program is sponsored in part by Ballad Health.
