PULASKI, Va. — The Kingsport Mets got a three-run home run from Anthony Dirocie in the top of the ninth inning and outlasted the Pulaski Yankees 9-8 in Saturday night’s Appalachian League play at Calfee Park.

The K-Mets (28-29) moved in front of Elizabethton in the West Division standings and stayed within a half-game of Bristol in the hunt for a playoff berth. Kingsport is a game and a half behind first-place Johnson City.

In a back-and-forth contest with the Yankees, Kingsport trailed 7-6 before Dirocie — following up one-out singles by Cole Kleszcz and Cristopher Pujols — went deep.

Pulaski (37-19) didn’t go quietly in the home half of the ninth, though. The Yankees produced three consecutive hits in the form of an Antonio Cabello double and Ryder Green and Chad Bell singles

From there, however, Saul Torres struck out swinging and catcher Andres Regnault caught pinch-runner Luis Santos stealing at second base to complete a game-ending double play.

Jender De Jesus (3-1) put in 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief to snag the victory before Nick MacDonald worked the ninth for his third save.

Kleszcz went 3-for-4 and Scott Ota was 3-for-5 with a double to pace a 12-hit Kingsport output. Dirocie finished with four RBIs and Jaylen Palmer ripped a three-run homer in the first inning.

The Yankees accumulated 10 hits, getting two each from Green (2 RBIs), Cabello (2 runs) and Santos. Jake Farrell homered with two men aboard in the fourth.
