This week's football picks are in ~ and it's Volunteer Falcons across the board

Each week, the sports staff at the Times News and Johnson City Press tests its powers of prognostication with "this week's football picks" - predictions for high school and college games as well as one pro pick when the Tennessee Titans are in action.
Youngster Tanner Cook currently leads the pack with a 43-12 record. He's got a two game-lead over veterans Douglas Fritz and Jeff Birchfield, with Joe Avento and Kevin Mays sitting four games behind the leader.
In one of the biggest Northeast Tennessee games of the week, the panel is all in with Justin Pressley's Volunteer Falcons ending Cherokee's run in the annual Battle of Hawkins County. The Chiefs have won 10 straight, but the high-flying Falcons have made believers of all five of our pickers and are a unanimous choice in this week's picks.
Across the state line, in Southwest Virginia's biggest game of the season to date, things aren't quite so cut and dry. Unbeaten Union will travel to unbeaten Ridgeview ~ and our panel favors the Bears, 3-2, to return to Big Stone Gap with that perfect mark still in tact. NET prep guru Fritz and Cook are rolling with the young and talented Wolfpack, while Birchfield, Avento and Southwest Virginia’s battle-tested Mays are sticking with the perennial powerful Bears.
The panel is in full agreement on a number of games this week, including: Daniel Boone to keep Gate City winless, Sullivan North to remain undefeated at South Greene, and Sullivan South to extend Sullivan Central's losing streak for at least another week.
