ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County couple were hospitalized Monday morning after a pickup they occupied reportedly jumped a curb in the Rogersville Hardee's parking lot and rolled down an embankment, landing on its side.

The driver, Gary W. Bradley, 62, and his passenger, Lisa A. Bradley, 57, both of Bulls Gap, were able to extricate themselves from the pickup.

Rescuers at the scene said they both suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and they were transported to the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital emergency room for treatment.

According to a report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Draine, around 10:43 a.m. Gary Bradley was driving a 1995 F-150 pickup into the Hardee's parking lot on Park Boulevard.

Gary Bradley reportedly stated that he hit the gas instead of the brake as he was pulling into a parking spot. The pickup then traveled over the curb, down an embankment and rolled over where it struck a utility pole.

Witnesses told authorities power was off for just a few seconds after the truck hit the utility pole.

Several agencies responded to the accident, including the Rogersville Fire Department, Hawkins County Rescue Squad, Hawkins County EMS, Rogersville Police Department, Hawkins County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Hawkins County EMA, and Holston Electric.

No citations were issued.
