WISE — An Appalachia man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison after a 2019 car chase.

Brendon Austin Caige Hill, 19, was convicted and sentenced Friday in Wise County Circuit Court on charges of grand larceny of an automobile, felony eluding, driving under the influence of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, hit and run and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hill was arrested on May 22 after a Wise County Sheriff’s Office deputy followed a vehicle in Wise that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen near Appalachia. According to police reports, Hill pulled into a church parking lot before driving off as the deputy approached the vehicle.

Hill sped through Wise, passing vehicles and driving into oncoming traffic. The deputy forced Hill off the road before he could hit a school bus head-on. After his arrest, according to police, Hill admitted to smoking meth before driving.

Hill received a 14-year prison sentence with 11 years and 11 months suspended and 10 years probation.
