BLOUNTVILLE - Jerry Lee Bledsoe, 74, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17, 2020 at his home.
He was born on February 4, 1945 to the late Kay T. and Ideal Bledsoe. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Sullivan County School System after 25 years of service. Jerry was a devoted member of Lighthouse Bible Church in Blountville where he served as a deacon. He was an avid gardener and a very skilled carpenter. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Terry L. Bledsoe; brothers, Donald and Ray Bledsoe.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Delores Bledsoe; sons, Glen Ray Bledsoe and wife Sharon and Mike McCann and wife Jan; daughter, Debbie Dugger and husband Darrell; grandchildren, Dawn, Michael, Forest, Autumn, Chris, and Tyler; one step-grandson; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Greer and husband Millard and Sue Lane and husband Randall; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Earnest Steffey and Jack Wright officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Gunning’s Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265.
