Prep roundup: North girls clamp down on Castlewood

BRISTOL — Sullivan North held Castlewood scoreless in the first half and to just four first-half points in a 43-15 girls win at the Ballard Lee Bearcat Tip-Off Tournament at Virginia High.

Holding a 26-4 lead at the half, the Lady Raiders’ suffocating defense gave the Lady Devils no chance to come back.

Lilly Crawford led Sullivan North on the offensive end with 10 points. Hannah Mullins was next high with seven points, followed by Maddy Winters with six.

Montana Sutherland was the leading scorer for Castlewood with eight points.

Eastside 61, John Battle 46

BRISTOL — Chloe Powers fired in 18 points andKaylee Yates finished with 16 to lead the Lady Spartans over the Lady Trojans.

Pineville, Ky. 54, Thomas Walker 31

PINEVILLE, Ky. —Reign King hit 16 of 18 free throws on her way to a 20-point performance leading the Lady Lions over the Lady Pioneers.

Whitney Caldwell came through with 14 points and Brittany Davis netted nine. Shelby Fannon led Thomas Walker with 11 and Tenley Jackson ended with seven.

Sullivan East 48, Lebanon 41

WISE, Va. — Leaning on a double-double from Jenna Hare, Sullivan East knocked off Lebanon (Va.) in the PVNB Tip-Off Classic.

Hare harvested 14 points and 12 rebounds, plus she handed out five assists. Emma Aubrey contributed 12 points on a 4-of-6 effort from 3-point range for the Lady Patriots, who battled back from a 16-7 end-of-first-quarter deficit.

Averie Price coupled 15 points with seven rebounds for Lebanon (1-1). Kara Long totaled 12 points and Alexis Horne eight boards.
