EMORY — Emory & Henry named Leroy Worley the college’s interim coach for track and field and cross country on Thursday.

Worley replaces Shawnee Kegley, who recently resigned to spend more time with her growing family, according to a release from the school.

Worley spent the 2019-20 academic year as a Wasps volunteer assistant with the track and field programs. He moves into the head coaching position following a decorated tenure as a high school coach in both cross country and track at Freedom and Forest Park high schools in Woodbridge, Virginia, and at Virginia High.

Worley has coached two high school All-Americans, including a USATF national champion in the triple jump; 55 all-state athletes who earned five state championships; 35 region champions; and 576 all-district selections who totaled 94 district titles.

His 1998 Virginia High girls track team won the Highlands District and Region IV championships and placed fourth at the VHSL Group AA championships.
